Fast, world class game boats and internationally experienced crews are available to charter on a daily basis from Cairns. The sportfishing grounds are closer to Cairns than the black marlin fishing grounds and so the fishing hot spots are perfect for full day charters to access.

Shared charters are very popular for light tackle game fishing and there are several of these charters departing each week.

To charter a professional liveaboard game boat and crew is ideal whether you be giant black marlin fishing or dedicating your time to successfully fishing for the lighter tackle species.

Large, sophisticated, sportfishing boats range in size from (40’ to 64’) and are fully equipped with every comfort one may require at sea for any length of time.

It is one of the most popular methods of game fishing, enabling the boats to fish later into the afternoon, offering excellent flexibility and mobility chasing the fish at different reef locations.

Reducing the travel time to the fishing ground is a big advantage and anchoring behind the reef at night will give anglers the opportunity of a swim and / or snorkel before breakfast.

A very effective and productive way of fishing for all species on the reef is to charter a mothership (60’ to 100’) in conjunction with a gameboat. This option provides the angler with excellent comfort on the reef (accommodation and cuisine to the standard of a five star hotel) and a range of watersport activities ideal for friends / family that aren’t perhaps as keen on the fishing - happy to spend the day on the mothership, relaxing and enjoying the many other activities the Great Barrier Reef has to offer.
