Reputable captains are often heavily booked for the marlin season, months in advance, with most anglers chartering on an extended basis for minimum 3–10 days, providing them with the best opportunity of maximizing prime fishing time. Occasionally availability will arise for these captains, due to cancellations etc with some prime time on offer close to the season.

Overnight & Extended Charters

The overnight and extended charter options enable the boats to fish later into the afternoon, offering excellent flexibility and mobility chasing the marlin at different locations.

Reducing the traveling time to the fishing grounds is a big advantage over running in and out of Cairns on a daily basis and anchoring behind the reef at night will give anglers the opportunity of a swim and / or snorkel before breakfast.

World class charter boats are fully equipped with every comfort one may require at sea for most lengths of time, including spacious airconditioned accommodation, water makers, ice makers, tv, videos, stereo and DVD players.

Great meals are served along with a selection of Australian beer, wine & softdrinks. All quality fishing tackle and equipment is included.

For even more comfort whilst at sea, anglers have the opportunity to charter a mothership (60’ to 100’) in conjunction with the gameboat. Considered, the ultimate way to fish the Great Barrier Reef, this option provides the angler with unsurpassed comfort on the reef with accommodation and cuisine to the standard of a four/five star hotel and a range of additional watersport activities for any non fishermen onboard.

Importantly, (as with the “Liveaboard” option) providing excellent mobility and flexibility to follow the fish.

Motherships are an additional charge per day and again pricing is dependant on the vessel available. Smaller motherships start in price from AUD$4500 per day.

Please note : All extended liveaboard charters (both game boat and mothership) are available on an exclusive, private charter basis unless otherwise advised.

Full Day Charters – Exclusive/Private:

Although the extended charters are the primary style of charter offered throughout the marlin season for most captains, occasionally there is the opportunity to charter a boat for a full day of heavy tackle fishing.Usually boats will have availability for “one day only” charters in September or December or if a captain has had a cancellation through peak fishing times of October and November.

Full Day Charters – “Shared” With Other Anglers :

Occasionally, there is the opportunity to join a group of anglers, usually no more than 3 others (total of 4), to experience a full day of marlin fishing.They can be quite challenging to put together, particularly through October and November as most captains are fully booked with extended, private charters.They are also never guaranteed until there are a confirmed number of 4 anglers booked and this often doesn’t happen until the afternoon prior to departure.Pricing on these again are dependant on vessel availability though they range from $550 per person – $650 per person, fully inclusive.
